Learning Objectives and Goals General Information
This seminar is conducted at a post-doctoral level. It is intended
for clinicians with a foundational and introductory understanding of
sandplay therapy, and who use the Jungian sandplay method in the
clinical setting. This seminar uses the participant’s clinical
casework as the basis for study. All aspects of client anonymity and
confidentiality are strictly observed in this seminar. This seminar
is held once a month for nine months. 2 hour and 3 hour options
available.
Learning Objectives
- To develop in-depth understanding of the healing and
transformational processes in sandplay therapy.
- To distinguish clearly between processes of psychological
healing and transformation.
- To develop awareness of thematic symbolic configurations in
sandplay therapy process.
- To develop understanding of the psychological import of
thematic symbolic content in sandplay.
- To develop understanding of the significance of the first
sandplay in a series in terms of clinical assessment and
prognosis, and direction of the sandplay process.
- To develop understanding of the critical role of the
clinician in the sandplay process in light of recent
neurobiological research and quantum mechanics.
Learning Goals
After taking this seminar the participant will be able to:
- To articulate how psychological healing and transformation
take place in the Jungian sandplay process.
- To be able to describe the differences in psychological and
sandplay processes that focus on healing or transformation,
using Jungian personality theory and symbolic constructions.
- To identify the psychological processes entailed in the
thematic symbolic constructions witnessed in the sandplay
process.
- To be able to articulate how symbolic themes such as myth,
archetype, fairy tale, and folklore legend are related to the
psychological processes of healing and transformation in the
clinical setting.
- To identify and articulate how the constructions and content
of the patient’s first sand tray pertain to clinical assessment
and prognosis. Using Jungian personality theory, to be able to
articulate the nature of the psychological work the patient’s
sandplay work will undertake, and the strengths the patient will
utilize to undergo this work in the symbolic context.
- To recognize indications of early developmental wounding in
the sandplay construction and content. In neurobiological terms,
to be able to articulate the clinical significance of this
wounding on the patient’s psychological development and
diagnosis. To articulate the psychologist’s role in the
patient’s therapeutic transformation in the sandplay process,
using concepts of quantum mechanics and interactive fields.
